Today's rant. Shall be, interracial relationships. While it is nothing new in Singapore, it has slowly been of concern to me (I repeat, me) that I am seeing more and more interracial couples on the streets of Singapore. A friend of mine once told me that he hated five types of relationships. Girls with rich guys. Chinese girls with Malay guys. Chinese girls with Indian guys. Singaporean girls with Caucasian guys. Last but not least, lesbians. It makes for a pretty interesting list if you ask me. I admit. Though probably with lesser conviction than him, that I agree with the list as well. SPGs have been here for quite a long time. Frankly speaking, if you ask me, in my flawed male perception, most Caucasian guys look better than average. Our average that is. And, it probably is a safe bet to say that the belong to the well to do category as well, which fulfills two of the above criteria in the above stated list, therefore making them the number one choice for local girls of any age (preferably after puberty). Rich guys. Hmm. This is pretty self explanatory. What really gets to me is how much the girls are willing to debase? themselves in search of wealth and, wealth. What I'm trying to say here is, whenever you see some beautiful or hot girl out there with this fat-ass, or this (basically ugly looking) guy, you know, oh yes, deep inside you, you are thinking, 'rich bastard'. Yes people, love sometimes, is blind but how many blind people do we have out of every ten Singaporeans? But well, I love money too, and the things it can do. Okay. Now for Chinese girls and Malay guys. The forefather of local interracial relationships, right after SPGs. It's actually before my time actually. Perhaps, it's because Malays are the 'coolest' race in Singapore. Its true. Look at their fashion sense. Except for the tapered jeans, most have been copied by Chinese guys as well, me included. And this just in. 'Because Malay guys can sing and play guitar'. Which I think makes perfect sense! At least in the context of that time frame. Hmm.. Gonna leave it at that. Next up, Indian guys. The latest of the list. It's a trend nowadays, it seems, for Chinese girls to like and subsequently engage in a relationship with Indian guys. From my bigoted, jealous and fucked up view, the reasons are quite interesting. First up is money. It's true. Chinese people used to be the richest in Singapore. They still are, but the Indians are not too far behind nowadays. Next, the coolness factor. Don't ask me why, but it has shifted yet again, from Malays to Indians. Though I have this nagging feeling that it could be due to Russell Peters... Perhaps after him, Chinese girls think all Indians have a fantastic sense of humour. This just in again! Got some great sources. It's because they're more handsome (than Chinese guys), and seem exotic. Now I particularly agree with the exotic part. Seriously. Indians are the most un-Singaporean people you can get here right after Caucasians. Case closed. Lesbians. What's the fun in there?! Hello? Hmm. Perhaps it is fun. Kids, I'm talking about the xxx part. But basically, my pet peeve is that most of the 'female' counterparts in lesbian couples are much better than your average. Right. End of yet another session with Frian Graham, alter ego extraordinaire. Here's a little thought experiment: I saw this interracial couple today(indian and chinese). But I thought they made a cute couple. Then I realized the gravity of the statement I just made to myself. After examining the causes, I realized that it was because they were both fat! You see, the point of this goes to prove that it's not about race(at least to a certain degree)! It's about jealousy and the frustration of the inability of the male Chinese population to get a(good/reasonable looking?) Chinese girlfriend. So please don't sue me. I'm not being a racist here. I'm just trying to point out that the male Singaporean Chinese population are well and truly fucked. Well at least for people like me. =)
